HDG Designer Guest Post: Christa goes to "Sheanivale"

My name is Christa and I am a designer here at HDG. Although I am primarily a designer and florist on the side (I wear a lot of hats), I am also very passionate about community wellness. I am currently a Board Member of the Child Guidance Center in Santa Ana and through my involvement, I had the privilege of attending “Sheanivale” (after Brazil’s Carnival) for the Shea Center for Therapeutic Riding at the Montage Laguna Beach. The Shea Center is an amazing organization in San Juan Capistrano that provides therapy through horse riding and play for children with special needs. The event was a colorful gathering that included live/silent auctions, stunning performances, dinner and dancing. Guests dressed to the nines and graced the lawn of the resort that overlooked the beautiful Pacific. Brazilian dancers and fire-eaters performed while we drank signature Brazilian cocktails and bid on the silent auction. We gathered in the ball room for dinner and watched a heart-tugging video that profiled how the Shea Center’s therapists and horses have helped countless children and their families since 1978. I am always surprised by how many people in our community are working tirelessly to improve the lives of others and create a stronger future for us all. The event was incredibly memorable and moving, and I was very thankful to be in attendance. (All images of event by Pixel That Photography)
