As a firm, we are always looking for organizations that we can be a part of and offer our support to. A few years ago, our staff decided we would donate clothing to Laura’s House at Christmas time. We chose to donate to Laura’s House because they are local to Orange County and they help women get out of domestic violence circumstances. Being an all female firm, we feel strongly about helping other women and offering support however we can. Fast forward to earlier this year when our friends at Aviso Legal Group asked us to attend and participate in Laura’s House annual fundraiser at the Balboa Bay Resort in Newport Beach… we obviously responded with an enthusiastic, “Yes!”
The theme for this year’s event was “Brighter Futures.” Each sponsor was in charge of designing their own centerpiece which was to be judged in three different categories against the other sponsored tables. Aviso Legal Group called on us to create their centerpiece and we were excited to create a feminine boho-inspired look.
We knew we wanted to do something with miniature light bulb strands since the event theme was “Bright Futures.” We placed our light strands into different sized hurricanes that had large airplants inside them. We created the Boho feel by bringing in driftwood pieces that were accented with succulents, moss and butterflies to help bring them to life. We hired Floral Designs by Christa Rose to create our fresh floral centerpiece. The flowers consisted of gorgeous Coral Charm Peonies, Pampas Grass, orange Pin Cushions, dried Bunny Tails, Ranunculus and Craspedia. The flowers brought in the vibrant and cheerful color palette that we wanted to convey but also reflected the boho style with the addition of the dried grasses. We used a mud-cloth printed “tablecloth” (insider’s secret: this is actually a shower curtain from Target!) and bought the cutest miniature wall hangings from Oxe and Nag as the parting gift for each place setting. Turquoise and dark blue glass votives were sprinkled around the table to add a touch of sparkle. We had bone framed inspirational type phrases like, “The Future is Bright” and “Wild and Free” around the table to emphasize our boho-inspired theme. Butterflies represent metamorphosis and change so we knew we wanted to have them all throughout the centerpiece. We placed them on the drift wood pieces, the frames and glass hurricanes. We were all super happy with the way everything came together!
We were so excited to be able to help support Laura’s House that we arrived super early to get our table set up! We had a fabulous time at the Luncheon meeting new people and seeing familiar faces! One of the auction items was from our friends at International Sanctuary/Purpose Jewelry, an amazing company with a great mission! We were so honored to be guests at this very worthy fundraiser! Thank you, Aviso Legal Group for inviting us to join you at such an incredible event! For more information on Laura’s House you can visit their website at https://www.laurashouse.org/.
